studies supporting the need to provide information to the public re
close exposures to bodies and beds re electric appliances, telephone
equipment and any item with speaker (magnet) whether
battery-operated or not.

does an excellent job of explaining what we have learned from the
little specific research re appliances that is available.
Articles re Dr. Lai's hair dryer study are in "USA Today," "Science
Daily," etc. There is "a truckload" of general EMF studies, books,
seminar reports, videos that can be provided but at considerable
cost. Many of the recent studies focus on cell phone exposures
which are, of course, a major concern in conjunction with, and in
addition to the issues I am addressing -- having cell phones and/or
any electric appliances, telephone equipment or any item with a
speaker (magnet) close to one's body while sleeping at night.

If you read my letter questioning why the American Cancer Society no
longer informs the public re moving certain items away from beds:

you will note that I provide information that Dr. Imre Gyuk,
Department of Energy, "is concealing/sitting upon" (since 2000),
the "EMF Interagency Committee Report."

The EMF Interagency Committee Report was a final review of the 1999
EMF RAPID Conclusions that resulted in designating low level EMF's
as Class 2B carcinogens (possible cancer promoters -- same category
as benzene). The EMF RAPID Study involved hundreds of studies
that included citing references of many EMF studies prior to
1995. The EMF RAPID Study cost in excess of $46 million.
Findings are that low EMF levels are causally linked to immune
deficiency and childhood Leukemia. Numerous symptoms occur as
result of immune deficiency prior to development of Leukemia!

There have been very few "specific studies" re close appliance
exposures. To my knowledge, even Dr. Lai has not been able to
get additional funding. He also has never responded to my
queries. There is a lot of "governmental control" over the very
limited facts being released to the public.

An international working group of scientists, researchers and public
health policy professionals (The BioInitiative Working Group) has
released its report on electromagnetic fields (EMF) and health. They
document serious scientific concerns about current limits regulating

I am asking for "common sense" based on facts that were determined
many years ago and that continue to be supported by studies today
albeit many studies that do not apply /specifically /to appliances,
telephone equipment other than cell phones, and my most recent
extremely serious concern about any item including stuffed animals
such as Sheep Sleep, Happy Play & Learn Pup, and more -- items that
are being placed on cribs, held close to bellies of pregnant moms
(saw that on CNN just the other day but no one knew about the
jeopardy the mom was placing upon her unborn child), held close to
bodies of children day and night, etc.

recommended precautions regarding electric blankets and electric
clocks, assigning file number "2 RAD IRIS 2," without having had
significant, substantive facts and/or justifiable reasons for
concern?

There are numerous problems when it comes to reviewing the science
that applies to the very serious issues I am addressing. The EMF
RAPID Study focused primarily on "magnetic field exposures." While
appliances that have motors, magnets, etc. do emit very strong
magnetic fields, that measurement falls off quickly with distance.
However, scientists know that "electric fields" play a significant
role and may, in fact, be "the bio-active agent" when it comes to
explaining how and why close, chronic, prolonged exposures to
appliances, telephone equipment and any item with a speaker (magnet)
triggers toxic reactions including formation of amyloid which has
been linked to Alzheimers, Type II Diabetes and many other health
problems.

Countless studies exist regarding low levels of melatonin in
patients said to fall into categories of autism-spectrum disorder,
the "misdiagnosis of Alzheimers," misdiagnosis of many other
problems such as ADD, ADHD and more.

The "bottom line" is that we must, at the state level re "consumer
protection," insist that our Department of Energy, the EPA, the
NIH, the NIEHS, the CDC, H&H, etc., "ACT NOW" -- via public service
announcements, pamphlets and information to the AMA, hospitals,
clinics, schools, etc. -- to halt/slow down well over 51% of every
symptom and disease that might otherwise be prevented or greatly
reduced (we are in midst of "catastrophic explosions" re autism,
Alzheimers and many symptoms alone, such as asthma, chronic
infections, etc.) by simply reducing length of time cell phones and
other equipment are used and are close to our bodies and equally or
more importantly, "provide warnings" that most of these items should
not be close to humans or animals while sleeping! Ramifications
to society re inability to provide healthcare and continuing effects
on economic recovery efforts re withholding of "prudent avoidance,"
are enormous!

I recognize that I am not a constituent of yours. I am once again
apprising officials in my own District 46. I have written to US
Repr. Michelle Bachmann and also informed workers for Senator
Klobuchar as well as completing online email today (2-09-09) regarding
the need to reduce bedroom electric field exposures.

What can I do to "ramp-up" attention to this cause via the Commerce &
